The main topic of this scam letter seems to be a contract award of $30 Million dollars. Mr. Philip Johnson then tells the hoped for scam victim that they will receive $1.2 Million dollars in compensation for doing superficial things such as reading letters and answering or making phone calls. Dr. Mike is to be contacted in oreder for the scam victim to recieve the compensation fund.

Many times, the African scam will include a small form for the scam victim to fill out. While the usual information is asked for, such as name, address and telephone number as in this case, sometimes financial information is reequested such as bank name or bank account numbers. Another way to recognize scams from Africa is to notice the examples of bad spelling and grammar that are frequently found in many African scam letters. The scammers, however, are developing better communication skills. In this sample scam letter, the errors are very few but still noticable.
